Sons And Daughters @ The Luminaire

Sons and Daughters are just out of the studio and have finished recording their 2nd album. Follow up to The Repulsion Box. Tonight’s show was a chance for them to preview their new tracks and try them out with a live audience. What a privilege it was to be the first to hear these new tracks - it’s been a long wait for some new material from these Scots but it was well worth the wait.

The new songs are fast-paced maintaining the tongue twisting lyrics from the first album. I spent most of the gig mesmerised by front-woman Adele Bethel as she strutted about the stage stamping her feet and shaking her tambourine.

A few songs from the first album were thrown in for good measure including a crowd rousing rendition of one of my favourites “Red Receiver”.

Support came from Joe Gideon & The Shark, a brother and sister duo from London. He played guitar and bass whilst she played pretty much anything she could get her hands on with a drum technique not too dissimilar to that of Animal.
